CPK stock spikes after allegation of sale

California Pizza Kitchen's shares traded at a roughly three-year high of $24 for the year after an article of an alleged sale appeared in the Wall Street Journal.
 
Meanwhile, block cheese prices trended up last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, averaging just over $1.49 per pound. Prices rose 11 cents from the previous week.
 
Prices closed at $1.46 on Monday, $1.48 on Tuesday, $1.49 Wednesday, $1.51 Thursday and $1.50 on Friday.
 
Wheat
 
Wheat closed at $5.01 per bushel Friday on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, off 12 cents from the previous week's close of $4.89.
 
Prices for wheat closed at just over $4.90 Monday, $4.98 Tuesday, $5.06 per bushel Wednesday and $5.04 on Thursday.
 
Gasoline and diesel fuel
 
The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.86 per gallon April 12, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, up 3 cents from the previous week.
 
Prices are up 3 percent from an average of $2.79 per gallon a month ago and up 40 percent from an average of $2.05 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $3.04 per gallon while premium unleaded as of April 12 stood at $3.15 per gallon.
 
The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $3.06 per gallon April 12, up 6 cents from last week. Diesel prices are up 35 percent from an average of $2.27 per gallon this time last year.
 
Natural gas
 
Since March 31, natural gas spot prices climbed at most market locations across the lower 48 States, with increases of as much as 8 percent, according to the Energy Information Administration. The Henry Hub natural gas spot price rose $0.15, or about 4 percent, to $4.08 per million Btu (MMBtu), in a week of trading shortened by the Good Friday holiday on April 2.
 
Pizza company stocks
 
Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $40.70 on April 5, up $1.50 compared with the previous week's close of $39.20. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $40.70 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $29.26 in April 2009.
 
Domino's closed at $14.71, up 93 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $13.78. DPZ has traded as high as $14.85 in April 2010 and as low as $6.41 in April 2009, over the past 52 weeks.
 
Papa John's stock closed at $27.72, up $1.91 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $25.81. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $29.25 in May 2009 a 52-week low of $21.44 in December 2009.
 
Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $39.56, up $1.19 cents compared with the previous week's close of $38.37. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $38.56 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $24.69 in October 2009.
 
California Pizza Kitchen closed at $18.18 on April 5, up $1.44 from the previous week's close of $16.74. CPKI traded as high as $24 in April 2010 and as low as $12.29 in December 2009.
 
Pizza Inn closed at $1.99 on April 5, down 15 cents from the previous week's close of $2.14. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.25 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of $1.03 cents in April 2009.
