Last week's stock market saw lower prices for gasoline and diesel fue,l with natural gas remaining stable and wheat and cheese on the rise. Pizza saw mixed results, with many competitors down from the previous week.
Here's a glimpse at the market:
Average block cheese prices jumped nine cents last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, coming in at an average of $2.23. The previous week's average was $2.14.
Prices were $2.18 Monday, $2.21 Tuesday, $2.25 Wednesday, $2.25 Thursday and $2.26 Friday.
Wheat prices went up six cents on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.
The week's average was $6.15, up from $6.09 the previous week and the same as the average price three weeks ago. Two weeks ago, wheat averaged $6.29.
Wheat closed at $6.08 Monday, $6.16 Tuesday, $6.10 Wednesday, $6.15 Thursday and $6.26 Friday.
Gasoline and diesel fuel
Monday's nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $3.43, down two cents from $3.45 the previous week, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
Prices are down from $3.54 a month ago, and remain down from this time last year, when consumers were paying the same as last month's average at the pump.
Mid-range unleaded is $3.63, while Monday's premium unleaded price was $3.80.
The nationwide average for diesel fuel is $3.80, a one cent drop from $3.81 last week. Diesel prices are also down from $3.85 a month ago, and from $3.88 a year ago.
Natural gas prices at most trading locations ended the report week relatively flat. The Henry Hub spot price decreased by 2 cents per million British thermal units (MMBtu), falling from $3.87/MMBtu August 13 to $3.85/MMBtu August 20.
At the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), the September 2014 contract decreased by $0.008, opening the report week at $3.831/MMBtu August 13 and settling August 20 at $3.823/MMBtu, a 0.2% decrease. The 12-month strip (the 12 contracts between September 2014 and August 2015) also decreased, falling from $3.913/MMBtu last August 13 to $3.909/MMBtu August 20, a 0.1% decrease.
Pizza company stocks
Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. climbed to $72.41 Friday, up from $71.60 the previous week and $71.48 two weeks ago.
Domino's finished last week at $74.03, down from $74.55 the previous week and up from $72.06 two weeks ago.
Papa John's finished at $39.32 Friday, down from $40.42 the previous week and $41.01 two weeks ago.
Shares in Papa Murphy's Holdings Inc., closed at $8.60 Friday, a decline from $8.95 the previous Friday.
Pizza Inn turned in at $8.03 Friday, up from $7.99 the previous Friday.
