Hungry Howie's remodel features modern elements, new equipment

Madison Heights, Mich.-based Hungry Howie's Pizza underwent a redesign in 2010 that featured a new look and equipment. The new design reduced labor costs and decreased ticket times, which increased efficiency and profits. It also eliminated barriers between the customer and employees with a new open design so customers can see inside the kitchen.

The chain's new look is contemporary with a touch of stainless steel, glass yellow tile and pear wood tones. With more than 500 units in 22 states, Hungry Howie's has started the upgrade process in existing units and all new stores have the updated design. According to Technomic, the company's 2011 sales were nearly 7 percent higher than in 2010.
