Block cheese prices perked up last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, averaging just under $1.42 per pound, up 2 cents from the previous week's average of $1.40. Prices closed at $1.40 per pound Monday, $1.40 on Tuesday, $1.42 Wednesday, $1.43 Thursday and $1.46 Friday.
Cheese prices are up 27 percent compared with last year, when they averaged $1.12 per pound.
Prices for wheat on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange closed at $5.22 per bushel last Friday, a welcome drop from $5.29 the previous Friday.
Wheat prices closed at just over $5.02 on Monday, $4.93 on Tuesday, $5.07 per bushel Wednesday, and $5.15 per bushel Thursday.
Gasoline and diesel fuel
The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.72 per gallon July 5, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, down 2 cents from the previous week. Prices are flat from an average of $2.72 per gallon a month ago and up 4 percent from an average of $2.62 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $2.89 per gallon while premium unleaded as of July 5 stood at $3 per gallon. The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $2.97 per gallon July 5, down 1 cent from the previous week. Diesel prices are up 13 percent from an average of $2.62 per gallon this time last year.
Since June 23, natural gas spot prices decreased across the lower 48 States, with declines of as much as $0.68 per million Btu (MMBtu), according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The Henry Hub natural gas spot price fell $0.37, or about 7 percent, averaging $4.53 per MMBtu in trading June 30.

Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $38.53 on July 2, down $2.44 compared with the previous week's close of $40.97. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $44 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $32.49 in Oct 2009.
Domino's closed at $11.50, down 19 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $11.69. DPZ has traded as high as $16.32 in April 2010 and as low as $7.09 in November 2009, over the past 52 weeks.
Papa John's stock closed at $23.25, down 87 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $24.12. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $28.84 in May 2010 and a 52-week low of $21.44 in December 2009.
Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $34.86, down 74 cents compared with the previous week's close of $35.60. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $41.79 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $24.69 in October 2009.
California Pizza Kitchen closed at $14.22 on July 2, down $1.57 from the previous week's close of $15.79. CPKI traded as high as $22.92 in April 2010 and as low as $12.29 in December 2009.
Pizza Inn closed at $1.93 on July 2, up 8 cents from the previous week’s close of $1.85. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.20 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $1.46 in July 2009.
