Stocks up across the board

Average block cheese prices dropped a penny last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, coming in at an average of $1.62. The previous week's average was $1.63.

Prices were $1.64 Monday and Tuesday, and $1.62 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Prices remain steady from last year's average of $1.63 per pound.


Wheat prices rose to $9.39 last week on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, up from $9.26 the previous week.

Wheat closed at $9.60 Monday, $9.71 Tuesday, $9.37 Wednesday, $9.19 Thursday and $9.11 Friday.

Gasoline and diesel fuel

Today's nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.95, down a penny from $3.96 the previous week, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

Prices remain up from a month ago, when they were $3.81, and are up more than a dollar from this time last year, when consumers were paying $2.82 at the pump.

Mid-range unleaded is $4.09, while premium unleaded today is $4.22.

The nationwide average for diesel fuel is $4.12, also down a penny from last week's price. Diesel prices are even from a month ago, and are up from $3.10 a year ago.

Natural Gas

Natural gas prices fell across the board as oil prices dropped steeply along with most other major commodities. At the Henry Hub, the natural gas spot price fell 36 cents from $4.59 per million Btu (MMBtu) on May 4, to $4.23 per MMBtu on May 11.

Pizza company stocks

Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $54.86 Friday, up more than $1 from the previous week and just shy of the company's all-time high of $54.98 set in April. The company was boosted by its offer to buy China's Little Sheep, a deal that would greatly expand its footprint in that country. Yum! traded at a 52-week low of $38.53 in July 2010.

Domino's finished last week at $23.53 last week, a big jump from $21.94 the previous week and up almost $5 from two weeks ago, at $18.57. DPZ got a boost from a strong earnings report that included an 8.3 percent increase in international sales. Domino's traded as low as $10.99 in June 2010.

Papa John's stock got a boost Friday after a favorable earnings report, finishing at $32.76, up more than $1 from $31.74 the previous week. The company hit its 52-week high, $32.96 last Thursday. Papa John's traded at a 52-week low of $22.78 in July 2010.

Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $40.46 Friday, a jump from $39.16 the previous Friday. CEC traded as high as $40.90 in December 2010, and a 52-week low of $30.44 in August 2010.

California Pizza Kitchen closed at $16.24 Friday, an increase from $15.88 the previous week. CPKI traded as high as $20.79 in May 2010 and as low as $13.19 in July 2010.

Pizza Inn turned in at $2.26 Friday, up a penny from $2.25 the previous week and the company's 52-week high. PZZI hit its 52-week low of $1.77 in May 2010.
