ALBANY, N.Y. -- Louisville, Ky.-based Papa John's International Inc. has confirmed that five Albany-area Papa John's stores have closed as of Oct. 7.
According to a report in The Business Review, the stores are located in Colonie, Schenectady, Delmar, Troy and Clifton Park.
Karen Sherman, Papa John's vice president for community and public relations, said the stores may reopen under different ownership in the future.
According to the report, phone calls to a Papa John's location in Albany, N.Y. on Tuesday at midday weren't answered. The company's Latham location closed earlier this year and the building is being demolished to make way for an Advance Auto Parts store.
Dynamic Pizza, an arm of Buffalo-based restaurant and hotel company Dynamic Enterprises, started opening Papa John's restaurants locally in 1998. The company continues to operate Papa John's restaurants in Syracuse and Binghamton. A call to Dynamic was not immediately returned.
