Bob Evans goes after pizza delivery with ‘Meals to Go’

Sept. 6, 2010

Casual restaurant Bob Evans has a new message and promo for back-to-school: it's takeout is healthier than that of pizzerias. The company is now using the tag “think outside the pizza box” to push its Bob Evans Family Meals to Go, and offering $2 off the "Meal" of choice to guests who bring in pizza coupons.

Bob Evans Family Meals To Go are a selection of carry-out meals with portions designed to provide convenient and delicious meal solutions large enough to feed a hungry family of four, according to a press release, which also describes the meals as a “homemade” and “nutritious” alternative to pizza or fast food.

Flavors include slow roasted turkey breast, chicken & broccoli Alfredo, roast beef, meatloaf, turkey bacon cheddar pasta and more. Each Family Meals To Go option is less than $20 and comes with a choice of any large Savory Side such as mashed potatoes and gravy, signature coleslaw, buttered sweet corn, fresh garden salads or fresh vegetables and a choice of Bob Evans' biscuits, rolls or garlic bread to fully round out the meal. Beverages, additional meat and side a la carte orders and other Taste of the Farm Carry Out options are also available.

The campaign specifically targets on-the-go moms, who are encouraged to order the carry-out meals over the phone on the way home from work or even online.
