Boston Pizza awarded for outstanding service to Canadian hospitality industry

RICHMOND, Brtish Columbia --Boston Pizza International Inc. was given the Hans Bueschkens Award of Merit for its outstanding service, dedication and social advancement of the Canadian hospitality industry.

According to a release, the award was presented by Foodservice and Hospitality Magazine in recognition of the Boston Pizza's work with charitable activities.

Since 1990, it has raised more than $2 million for a variety of charities. The Boston Pizza Foundation, established in 1990, manages the companty's charitable interestsand activities.

Boston Pizza has more than 160 restaurants in Canada and the U.S. and posted more than $300 million in sales in 2002.

The chain has been honored regularly since 1994 as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies. In 2002, Mike Cordoba, president and COO, was listed as one of Canada's "Top 40 Under 40" by Report on Business Magazine.
