Boston Pizza International opened its 100th location in Alberta today, marking the 352nd Boston Pizza in Canada. The store is the first in Canada built from the ground up using Boston Pizza's contemporary, new design concept. The 6,400 square-foot location features a state-of-the-art sports bar, a family friendly, modern dining room and an outdoor patio, according to a news release.
"Boston Pizza's roots are in Edmonton — it's where we opened our first location 50 years ago — so it's not only exciting to open our 100th store in the province, but somewhat symbolic to have it be the first in Canada to unveil our new store design," said Ken Otto, chief operating officer for Boston Pizza International. "Boston Pizza continues to innovate, grow and thrive both in Alberta and across the country, due in large part to our commitment to continually evolve our brand, menu and design of our stores."
As part of the new design, the sports bar has been re-imagined to include accessible big-screen HD TVs. The restaurant's exterior features a signature design with wood panels, steel detailing and the Boston Pizza roundel logo incorporated into the entrance. Once inside, guests are greeted by branded glass walls leading them to the host station.
"We took a collaborative approach to our new store design. Working with a cross-functional team of architects, design firms and internal stakeholders in marketing, operations and our franchisee community, we've taken the Boston Pizza experience to a whole new level," said Arvin Srivastava, senior director of Design, Boston Pizza International. "From enhanced lighting, to lower, more intimate ceilings in the dining room, it's all about creating the perfect guest experience."
Boston Pizza Ellerslie Road is owned by Ronald Coyle and Steve Robbins who also own, or are partners in, 19 Boston Pizza locations in Alberta and British Columbia.
