April 12, 2012

Ontario-based Boston Pizza International will giveaway 10,000 free pizzas if a Canadian NHL team wins the Stanley Cup. There are currently two Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs, which began this week: the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators.

"As a proud Canadian brand and supporters of hockey from coast-to-coast, we share in the excitement and anticipation that come with the playoff season," said Steve Silverstone, executive vice president of Marketing, Boston Pizza International. "Whether your team is in or out, one thing Canadian hockey fans can all agree on is that the Cup is due to return to Canada. This is our way of showing our passion for the game in a big, Boston Pizza-style way. And, what's a celebration without great food?"

The last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup was the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.

Exact details of the giveaway will be provided as the playoffs progress.

During the 2010-2011 playoffs, Boston Pizza re-branded its Montreal and Vancouver-area stores to 'Montreal Pizza' and 'Vancouver Pizza' when the teams faced-off against the Boston Bruins.
