Brandon for Governor? Michigan GOP sizing up Domino's Pizza CEO

Feb. 3, 2005

According to published reports, David Brandon (read also Who's Who: David Brandon), chief executive officer and chairman of Domino's Pizza is being considered by Michigan's Republican party as a 2006 gubernatorial challenger to incumbent Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

According to the Detroit News, among those "seriously looking at" running are former Amway President Dick DeVos, and Brandon, who has stated in the past that politics may be a part of his future.

According to the News, Michigan GOP chairman-in-waiting Saul Anuzis called DeVos and Brandon examples of "CEOs who can provide leadership" for an economically troubled state.

Brandon currently serves on the University of Michigan's Board of Regents and on the boards of other charitable organizations.

In 2003, he signed a contract extension with Domino's that secured his job until 2008.

Since taking the helm at Domino's in 1999, Brandon has led the company to add more than 1,000 stores worldwide and steered it through the largest foodservice industry IPO in U.S. history.
