Cameras started to roll this week in Dallas for new Pizza Hut spots that feature real employees, according to a story in the Dallas Morning News. It’s part of a new campaign announced in late September called "Your Favorites. Your Pizza Hut.” that aims to connect the brand to its customers in a more personal manner.
To capture that theme, Pizza Hut and its advertising agency, The Martin Agency, turned to actual employees working in Pizza Hut restaurants throughout America. The employees were chosen through video submissions highlighting their personalities and desire to share Pizza Hut's "Your Favorites" story. Eight Pizza Hut employees were chosen from hundreds of entries.
While a new ad strategy, the spots will not move completely away from the price-oriented messaging that has proven successful for the brand. From the story:
"The idea here is that we've got great value," said Kurt Kane, Pizza Hut's vice president of brand marketing and advertising. "There's nobody to deliver that message better than our own team members. We think [they] are a better representation of what the brand experience is than trying to use celebrities."
Kane said the seven-ad campaign will feature up to 10 employees – including three from North Texas. ...
The campaign, which includes ads shot six weeks ago in Los Angeles, will air well into next year, he said.
