IRVING, Texas — Comparable-store sales at CEC Entertainment Inc.'s Chuck E. Cheese restaurants increased 3.6 percent for the 2008 first quarter ended March 30, 2008, the company has announced.
Revenues for the quarter were $245.2 million, up 5 percent from $232.9 million for the 2007 first quarter. Net income for the quarter was $32.9 million, up 3 percent compared with net income of $32 million for the same period last year.
"We are pleased with our strong sales performance in a difficult consumer environment providing evidence that our strategic initiatives are taking hold and the Chuck E. Cheese's brand is vibrant," said chief executive officer Richard Frank. "As we move forward, our primary objective will continue to be building sales momentum in existing stores."
CEC Entertainment operates 535 Chuck E. Cheese restaurants throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.
