CiCi's hosts Special Olympics fundraisers

Aug. 13, 2012

Twenty participating CiCi's Pizza locations across Georgia have spent the past month raising money for Special Olympics Georgia.

From July 16 through today, guests have had the opportunity to purchase and personalize a "Buy a Smile, Be a Fan" Special Olympics paper logo for $1 each. The logos are being displayed in the participating restaurants, with all proceeds going toward Special Olympics Georgia.

Today, a "Dough Raisers" event is being held to challenge guests to purchase enough paper logos to cover an entire law enforcement vehicle.

In addition to the logo proceeds, CiCi's will donate 10 percent of today's sales to Special Olympics Georgia.

"At CiCi's we care about our communities and all the families that make them great," said Lauren Albright, CiCi's field marketing manager. "Special Olympics Georgia does so much for our neighbors and we're honored to engage our restaurant teams and guests to give back to such a worthy cause."

Special Olympics Georgia provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

"Special Olympics allows people with intellectual disabilities to be part of a larger community of athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters," said Georgia Milton-Sheats, president and CEO of Special Olympics Georgia. "Partnerships with organizations like CiCi's Pizza allow us to boost our fundraising efforts and help more individuals and families in Georgia."

CiCi's will partner with other state Special Olympics programs in the South Atlantic, including North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida on this fundraising event.
