CiCi's offers slice of awareness to mentoring program

Jan. 20, 2009
COPPELL, Texas -- CiCi's Pizza has joined forces with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Texas again this year to promote January as National Mentoring Month. CiCi's will provide BBBS chapters in the Houston and San Antonio, Texas, areas with an e-mail coupon that allows a Little Brother or Sister to eat for free when the Big "sibling" purchases an adult buffet during the month.
This will mark the second year the pizza franchise has partnered with the non-profit to help create awareness about the importance of positive adult figures in young children's lives. In 2008, CiCi's partnered with BBBS in North Texas for National Mentoring Month.
"The success of the first mentoring campaign with Big Brothers Big Sisters provided CiCi's the chance to impact the lives of young people and their families," said Steve Hawter, vice president of training at CiCi's. "We chose to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters as they match well with our values and culture as a company."
In addition to the National Mentoring Month coupons, CiCi's Pizza also provided pizza for the BBBS Bowl for Kids events last year. The 2008 events raised more than $700,000 for the non-profit.
