Cinnabon tests broader menu, jumps into pizza space

An Atlanta Cinnabon location is reportedly testing a new "Pizzabon," with pizza characteristics served on a snack size, savory bun.

According to the New York Daily News the new limited time offering is available at the remodeled Atlanta Cumberland Mall location, which includes a test kitchen experimenting with a broader menu.

The Pizzabon includes cheese, marinara sauce and pepperoni and is served on Cinnabon bread -- the same bread used for signature Cinnabons but without cinnamon or sugar.

The Cumberland location is hosting a promotional giveaway Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to introduce guests to the new item. They are being sold for $2.99.

Cinnabon spokesperson Rachel Hadley told the Daily News that it will take work to get consumers to think of the brand for something other than sweet indulgences.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that other items are being tested and sold at the Cumberland location as well, including a croissant, apple danish, cupcakes, breakfast sandwiches and iced coffees.

Cinnabon president Kat Cole said these items will be available in some other venues individually, but the full menu will only be available at the Cumberland location.

Cinnabon is owned by Atlanta-based Focus Foods.
