Delivery driver lured to apartments and robbed at gunpoint

Sept. 18, 2002

SAN DIEGO -- Two men robbed a Papa John's delivery driver after luring him to an apartment complex on the night of Sept. 16.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, police Sgt. Dave Moss said the men appeared from behind the complex after a resident told the driver no one at the apartments had ordered the food.

The men told the driver they had ordered the pizzas, but that they didn't intend to pay for them. One then pointed a shotgun at him while the other demanded the pizzas, his wallet and car keys.

The two then ordered the 31-year-old male driver to walk behind the apartments, where he was told to remove his shoes and sit.

After he complied, the robbers fled in a white Honda.
