Domino's launches Thin Crust in India, trades 'blackout' story for free pizza

NEW DELHI, India -- Domino's Pizza India has announced the launch of a Thin Crust Pizza in India.

According to a news release, the new pizza will get major TV and print advertising support for nearly four months.

As a part of a rollout promotion, a regular Thin Crust will cost Rs. 39 (U.S. 85 cents) with any medium or regular pizza ordered. With the purchase of any large pizza, the Thin Crust is free.

In other Domino's news, the company is offering $1,000 in free pizza gift certificates in trade for the best tale of survival following the blackout of 2003. The Aug. 14, power outage left 60 million Americans and Canadians without power for as long as 72 hours. The outage also hit Ann Arbor, Mich., where Domino's is headquartered.
