ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Domino's Pizza LLC has agreed to acquire 82 franchised stores in the Phoenix, Ariz., market, making it the largest store acquisition in the company's history.
The acquisition from the Domino's franchise Sierra-Sonora Enterprises, Inc., owned by Rick Flory, will bring the number of stores owned and operated by the company to 602 when the transaction closes on or about Feb. 25.
"The Greater Phoenix area, which already ranks as one of the top 10 markets in the country, is also one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. We're delighted at the opportunity to grow along with the community," said David A. Brandon, chairman and chief executive officer of Domino's Pizza LLC.
The Sierra-Sonora Enterprises franchise, led by Flory, first opened in Phoenix in 1980, and in the ensuing years became one of the largest Domino's franchises in the U.S. Domino's is the second largest pizza chain operating in the Greater Phoenix area.
According to Patrick Knotts, Domino's executive vice president of Flawless Execution, Corporate Stores, the company will boost its local market advertising to raise awareness of the company's menu offerings.
Founded in 1960, Domino's operates a network of 7,112 company-owned and franchised stores in more than 60 markets around the world.
