Domino's Pizza Group named top UK operator by PAPA

LONDON -- Domino's Pizza Group (UK) has been named the Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association (PAPA) Pizza Delivery/Takeaway Chain Overall Operator of the Year for 2002.

According to a release, Domino's Pizza Group (Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino's Pizza's master franchisee for the UK and Ireland) won the award for its innovative growth and operations strategies. Founded in 1985, the group's store count is now 261.

"Our judges were impressed by Domino's high standards, excellent results and commitment demonstrated by everyone in the company," Jim Winship, PAPA chairman, said in the release.

Domino's UK's chief executive Stephen Hemsley said the company is "delighted to receive this award. It is recognition of the hard work that that has been going on throughout the company and in every Domino's store."
