Domino's Pizza Hero iPad game adds hiring component

Domino's launched its Pizza Hero iPad game about a year ago, allowing fans to create virtual pizzas – from rolling the dough to tapping on the toppings.

But now, according to the blog Kotaku, the game (available free at the App store) also includes a new job training component.

The game rewards players for their sauce techniques and topping placement abilities based on Domino's pizza-making standards. If a player makes it through the introductory challenges and "Two Pizza Throwdown" mission, he or she will be encouraged to apply for a job at the chain through Domino's career page.

Kotaku suggests that this new component could be the beginning of other such job training simulations; for example, UPS applicants who excel at route-mapping in driving games or bank applicants who master money-counting games.

According to the story, this job-application element was introduced this month. Phil Lozen, Domino's social media specialist, said although it's early, there have been some applications received from Pizza Hero.

Domino's also is promoting the iPad game -- with a link to its career page -- through its home page and Facebook sites.
