MUNICH -- Columbus, Ohio-based Donatos Pizzeria opened its first outlet in Germany on Nov 6.
According to a report published by Die Welt, the pizza subsidiary of McDonald's Corporation expects to open more restaurants in Munich and Frankfurt by the end of 2002, and aims to open roughly 200 outlets across Germany in three years' time.
The opening marks Donatos' first international effort.
The report said that McDonald's is determined to diversify its activities in Germany, where comparable-store sales fell by .7 percent last year.
McDonald's representatives stressed that the company would not start selling pizza at its more than 1,000 McDonald's outlets in Germany.
