AUSTIN, Texas—Columbus, Ohio-based Donatos Pizzeria has begun a systemwide conversion of its POS systems to Wincor Nixdorf units.
According to the Austin Business Journal, Wincor systems are running at two U.S. locations and at Donatos' three German restaurants.
The pizza chain will begin upgrading its existing stores and installing the systems at new locations in 2004. A value of the contract wasn't released.
Donatos operates more than 180 company-owned and franchised restaurants, and is part owned by McDonald's Corp, in Oak Brook, Ill.
Wincor Nixdorf produces POS sales equipment and automatic teller machines. Wincor Nixdorf's German parent is Wincor Nixdorf GmbH & Co.
In June, 2,900-store Louisville, Ky.-based Papa John's launched a program to upgrade its POS system hardware to Wincor's Beetle (see related story "Papa John's to implement Wincor Nixdorf Beetle POS system.")
