E la Carte has raised $13.5 million in a Series B round of funding to accelerate the deployment of its Presto tablet designed for restaurants. According to Mashable, the Presto lets customers browse menus, place orders and pay bills at their table, without dependence on a waiter.
E la Carte initially tested the product in the San Francisco and Boston markets and has since expanded nationwide at several casual dining brands, including Evergreen Restaurant Group, a franchisee of Outback Steakhouse.
The funding was led by Intel Capital. E la Carte plans to use the money to expand into more than 200,000 restaurants throughout the U.S.
Rajat Suri, the company's founder and CEO, told Mashable that E la Carte's tablet sales have been growing at a rate of 35 percent month-over-month.
