July 14, 2003

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- A man posing as a job applicant at a Pizza Hut robbed the store's manager at gunpoint before it opened on July 14.

According to the Times-Picayune, just before 10 a.m., the man entered the building through an open employee entrance and asked the manager for a job application
As the manager retrieved an application, the man pulled out a small pistol and held up the manager. Before the robber fled with an undetermined amount of money, the manager voluntarily locked himself inside the restaurant's cooler.

A Pizza Hut employee whose shift started at 10 a.m., heard the manager banging from inside the cooler and screaming for him to dial 911.

Fearing the robber still might be on the premises, the employee called police from a nearby business, then jumped in his car to flag down a police officer.
