HILLSBORO, Ore. — FireFly Technology's new Inventory module for its Phoenix POS system provides instant, at-a-glance food cost and profit margin percentages for every menu item.
According to a news release, Phoenix users can easily generate purchase orders based on ingredient warning levels, e-mail or fax purchase orders to vendors, and the track the receipt of every ingredient.
"We've designed this system specifically to handle the complexities of tracking inventory in a pizza restaurant, based on our years of experience working with thousands of pizza operators," said FireFly marketing manager Duessa Holscher. "This means we can accurately track the complexities of ingredients varying by topping count and by order type, to ensure a high level of accuracy."
The Phoenix system constantly updates inventory information so operators can quickly see the theoretical vs. actual ingredient usage at any time throughout their day -- even from a remote office or at home.
"Even if you are tracking just a few items, Phoenix lets you keep a handle on them on an hourly basis, so you can identify problems when they start," Holscher said.
Phoenix also uses FIFO (first in, first out) accounting, which ensures the most precise cost tracking.
"The Phoenix inventory module was designed with the input of our users, including Pizza Hut franchisees who have very detailed inventory tracking requirements," said Holscher. "Their input helped us develop the most sophisticated yet easy-to-use Inventory program available for the pizza market.
