MEXICO CITY -- According to the Wall Street Journal, Corporacion Mexicana de Restaurantes SA has closed its 14 Little Caesars pizza stores in the country.
The company, better known as Wings, said the carryout-delivery pizza parlors did not "fit strategically" with its other restaurant chains that offer full services to customers. In 2000, Little Caesars announced its plans to roll out 300 stores in Mexico by 2010. Whether this current setback will have much affect on that is not immediately known.
Wings has opened one new Wings, a Cafe de Bosque and two Chili's restaurants this year, and it expects to continue its expansion program next year with three new Chili's, two Wings and one Macaroni's restaurants.
