LONDON — Domino's Pizza UK & IRL posted comparable-store sales gains of 6.6 percent for fiscal year 2004, ended Jan. 2, 2005. According to a news release, the previous year's comps were up 7.4 percent.
The company finished the year strong by posting comp increases of 13.2 percent for the six weeks to Jan. 2. Its two-layer Double Decadence pizza and an aggressive marketing campaign were credited with the boost.
The franchise group's e-commerce platforms generated record sales of £1.2m (U.S. $2.24 million) in the same period, representing a 61.9 percent increase over the prior year and 5.9 percent of total system sales.
The group opened 40 new stores in 2004, 10 fewer than in 2003, bringing its total store count to 357.
"I am very pleased that we have successfully continued our aggressive expansion program while also delivering robust system sales increases," said Stephen Hemsley, CEO of Domino's Pizza UK & IRL. "In view of this performance, I am confident that we will deliver full year results in line with market expectations."
