Fundraising platform lets restaurant-goers 'dine out and give back'

A new charitable giving platform has launched that gives foodies a chance to donate to their favorite causes when they purchase gift certificates to restaurants.

LivnGiv.com allows users to choose particular causes they wish to support when they are purchasing restaurant gift cards from the site. When the gift card is redeemed, 20 percent of the restaurant tab is given to the charity at no extra cost to the user.

"This is the first time people have been able to contribute money to causes for no cost, just by living their lives and going out to eat," said Kenneth Hepburn, a co-founder of LivnGiv. "People like to spend their money with companies that give back. LivnGiv makes it effortless for them to do so. With the holidays coming up, it a great gift to give the diner, as well as the charitable organization."
