Godfather's Pizza franchisee deploys Coca-Cola Freestyle

At least two Godfather's Pizza units in the Kansas City, Mo., market have deployed the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which offers 106 varieties of beverages, including derivatives of the classics, through the Coca-Cola Company's proprietary technology.

For example, through the touch screen fountain, guests can add raspberry flavor to their Sprite, choose one of eight varieties of Fanta or mix up Cherry and Vanilla Coke.

According to KC Community News, Godfather's is the first restaurant in Liberty, Mo., to feature the fountain. Owner David Crowdus said the new equipment will particularly appeal to children, and eventually pique the interest of parents as well.

So far, he added, Fanta has been very popular because of the varieties.

"Where else do you get peach Fanta?" he asked.

Each Freestyle machine is connected to Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta, which monitors the dispensers' supplies. The machine is supplied through drink cartridges and, when they run low, Crowdus is notified via email from headquarters.

Crowdus has two Godfather's Pizza units – in Liberty and Gladstone, Mo. – and was put on a waiting list after requesting Coca-Cola Freestyles in early December. He pays a monthly fee for the machines, in addition to the cost of the products used each month.

Franchisees are not required to implement the technology, according to Godfather's Pizza spokesperson Deb Ahi. Godfather's Pizza is still testing the Coca-Cola Freestyle and has not yet determined whether or not the equipment will roll out system-wide.

Godfather's Pizza has more than 600 restaurants in 40 states.
