Less than a week after opening its eighth Texas location, Grimaldi's Pizzeria has shifted gears to the Sunshine State. In mid-November, Grimaldi's Pizzeria will open its newest location in Clearwater, Fla.
"We are very excited to open Grimaldi's at the Countryside Mall in Clearwater," said Joe Ciolli, Grimaldi's president and CEO. "We believe that Grimaldi's brings a unique dining experience that encourages guests to create memorable moments with family and friends."
The new restaurant will be the fourth opened in Florida during 2011. The company is on track to open additional restaurants in the state in 2012.
Grimaldi's has garnered numerous awards for its pizza, made by its signature, hand-built, coal-fired oven. Weighing in at 25 tons and heated by 100 pounds of coal per day (cleanest burning fuel available and environmentally tested), the oven heats up to 1,200 degrees. The intense heat of the oven evenly bakes the pies to create Grimaldi's crispy and smoky thin crust that has been voted as "best pizza" by Zagat.
Grimaldi's also tries to maintain the integrity of the water used in the Brooklyn pizzeria by hiring a chemist to analyze and recreate the mineral content, ensuring the dough tastes the same in Florida.
Grimaldi's Pizzeria wholly owns and operates locations in Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., Las Vegas, Reno, Nev., Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Fort Myers, Fla., and Corpus Christi ,Texas. Additional locations in Texas are being planned.
