VANCOUVER, B.C. — Hcareers, a Web-based job board for the restaurant, hospitality and retail industries, launched an initiative to help workers who are unemployed as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

According to a news release, employers who have job vacancies and want to help displaced workers can post those jobs for free by offering special considerations like housing and relocation assistance.

Job seekers have free access to view more than 65,000 industry jobs nationwide across the entire Hcareers network. The new Web site is katrinahospitalityjobs.com.

"Hcareers would like to provide as much assistance as possible during these difficult times," said David Curry, senior executive vice-president of Hcareers. "I am personally asking all industry employers looking for candidates to consider any special assistance they can offer these individuals to help support the transition back into employment."

Hcareers launched the initiative with support from the National Restaurant Association, American Hotel & Lodging Association, American Resort Development Association, RestaurantU.com, QSR Web, People Report, Fast Casual.com, PizzaMarketplace.com, Hotel Resource, Foodservice.com and the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation.
