Japanese restaurant review site Tabelog.com is in the process of rolling out its U.S. version to Chicago. It debuted in the domestic market last April in New York City.
According to a news release, Tabelog.com has 50 million users monthly. It features reviews of restaurants, as well as content from bloggers, critics and local experts.
A typical restaurant review on Tabelog has multiple paragraphs of information and photos of the decor, menus, and of course the food. Contributors review everything from their favorite dish and how it was prepared to what desserts they recommend.
Tabelog's parent ompany, Kakaku.com, also hosts the Official Food Blogger Restaurant Awards. Five categories are voted on for each of the awards. Currently, voting for the Spring 2014 Awards is underway in the following categories:
- Best Brunch in Chicago
- Best Burger in Chicago
- Best Overall Decor
- Best Sushi in Chicago
- Best use of Foie Gras
Services are planned to expand to another 11 U.S. cities throughout the next 12 months.
