KFC to help expand Pizza Hut outlets

The Jamaica Observer: Restaurants of Jamaica (ROJ) will begin operating some of its Pizza Hut restaurants under its KFC roof, a strategy that the company says could lead to a much faster roll-out of its pizza business than had been planned.

ROJ, which operates both franchises in Jamaica, recently opened its first dual restaurant at Angels Plaza in St. Catherine, and said it would serve as a template for others.

Mark Myers, managing director of ROJ, believes that the combined operation would create greater spread of overhead, and could also engender synergy in marketing — by introducing the pizza, which to date has been a niche product, to the much larger market that buys KFC.

The recently constructed restaurant at Angels presented ROJ with the opportunity to experiment with the dual concept.
