Kronos outlines three trends transforming workforce management

Kronos Incorporated recently hosted an event with retail and hospitality executives, including those from Starbucks, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Forever 21 and more. According to a news release, attendees held discussions about trends – such as gamification, omni-channel, and global readiness – that are transforming workforce management in the retail and hospitality sectors. Highlights from these discussions include:

  • Gamification: According to executives who attended the event, the social gaming trend is rapidly gaining momentum in retail and hospitality. In addition to taking consumer engagement to the next level, social gaming tools also drive manager and employee collaboration.
  • Omni-Channel: As brick and mortar and online retail channels merge, attendees addressed two related issues: improved visibility into inventory and best practices in staffing stores to meet new origins of customer demand. Effective omni-channel strategies that incorporate labor and store fulfillment not only drive sales and free up trapped inventory in the store but also help manage labor costs, the release said.
  • Global Readiness: As retail and hospitality organizations increasingly operate in a globally competitive market, there is a growing demand for standardized, global workforce management tools and practices as well as region-specific knowledge and support.
