Leprino offers new products from block plant

Leprino Foods is introducing a number of new products, primarily from its new Lemoore West, Calif. manufacturing facility, during the Pizza Expo show in Las Vegas March 25-27.

The Denver-based cheese supplier opened the new plant in January to increase its production of block cheese product. Among its new offerings to distributors is a 10-pound ribbon pizza cheese, which the company claims offers consistent shredability and melt across a wide range of cook conditions.

Leprino acquired three block cheese plants in 1998, according to its Web site, to put itself back in the block business in addition to its focus on shredded product. Customer demand for the block product led company executives to open the new plant in California this year.
