Little Caesar's announced the disbandment of its Pizza Bowl at Detroit's Ford Field, according to the game's executive director in a Crain's Detroit article.
The Detroit-based pizza company took over the bowl in a three-year deal in 2009, replacing General Motors as the primary financial supporter.
The Pizza Bowl's survival has been in question since the Detroit Lions stepped up to claim the role of host in 2013 in six-year deal including Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference teams, the article said.
“There is no Pizza Bowl for 2014. We will have to see about the future,” said Ken Hoffman, one of the top officials for the bowl, in the article.
