DAMANSARA JAYA, Malaysia -- Max Ranjit Singh may have the fastest hands in the Far East.
The part-time Domino's Pizza maker recently clinched the "Fastest Pizza Maker 2001" title after making 14 pies in a national Malaysian record time of 4 minutes and 36 seconds.
According to a report in the New Straits Times, Ranjit beat the previous record by five seconds. His feat was entered into the Malaysia Book of Records.
Organized by Domino's Pizza, Dommal Food Services Sdn Bhd, the annual competition simulates a the rush hour atmosphere in a Domino's store to assess the performance of contestants.
The winner earned a trophy, plus RM1,000 cash (about $263 U.S.)
Last spring Domino's awarded its World's Fastest Pizza Maker title to Waheed Awsim, a general manager at one of its Washington, D.C. stores. Awsim made 14 pizzas in 2 minutes and 35 seconds, earning him $5,000 for the feat.
