To mark 50 years in business, Mazzio's Italian Eatery is embracing its history. The company will feature Ken's Original Thin and Crispy Pizza, its original menu item, throughout February and March.
Mazzio's founder, Ken Selby, opened his first restaurant, The Pizza Parlor, on Nov. 11, 1961, across from the University of Tulsa campus in Oklahoma. Selby's original recipe featured a crispy crust and spicy sauce, and was the springboard for the company's eventual expansion.
Mazzio's now includes 166 locations in 10 states.
The original item will return as a limited-time offer as a 15-inch extra large one-topping pizza for $10.50, or the five-topping supreme for $13.50.
"We're taking customers back to where it all started, with Ken's original pizza," said Greg Lippert, president and CEO of Mazzio's LLC. "The original spicy sauce and crispy crust makes it an all-time favorite, and we knew we had to make it part of our 50th celebration."
