Mellow Mushroom adding two new units

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers will open its newest restaurant in Greenville, N.C., on April 30.

The restaurant is the second led by owners Reid Fogleman, David Bond, Jim Ward III, Steve Jones, Bob Greczyn and Burney Warren III, all graduates of East Carolina University.

"We could not be more excited to bring our passion for Mellow to the local community and university. We wanted to provide an exciting experience for guests of all ages, and this Mellow will do just that," Fogleman said.

The menu features a variety of unique pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers. Other options include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and kid-friendly selections.

Some of the design elements unique to this location include:

  • A 12-foot-by-3-foot fire pit on the large outdoor patio. Slithering in and out of the fire pit is an original Sea Serpent Monster made of steel that will extend to be 10 feet tall.
  • Hanging behind the bar is an artist's rendition of a BlackBeard's Flag created from wood.
  • Mock port-holes and a ship wheel for kids to interact with.

This location also features a full-service bar with liquor, craft beer and wine options. When customers join the Mellow Mushroom Beer Club, they'll receive member-only rewards as they work their way through the 100 beers offered at this location. Guests will also be able to enjoy live music on the patio that seats more than 100 people.

Southwest Ohio getting its first Mellow

Mellow Mushroom is also set to debut in the Southwest Ohio market, with plans to open this summer in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester.

According to the Middletown Journal, the restaurant is expected to open in July and will offer dine-in and carry-out. It will be operated by Kevin Molony, who also owns and operates a Mellow location in Wilder, Ky., just south of downtown Cincinnati.

This will be the third Mellow Mushroom in Ohio. The chain also has locations in Dublin and Columbus, Ohio.
