Mellow Mushroom adds to Phoenix presence

Nov. 22, 2013

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers has opened a location in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix under the ownership of Jay and Diana Beskind.

"As soon as we opened the Mellow Mushroom in Happy Valley and continued to expand our presence in the Phoenix area, Ahwatukee was next up on our radar. This community is the perfect fit for Mellow, and we cannot wait for the guests to see what we have in store," they said in a joint statement.

The new Mellow is located in a former brewery and features an art deco-inspired theater complete with movie marquee signs at the main entry. The design also includes a retro ticket booth hostess stand and popcorn retail display, and movie theater projectors display a kaleidoscope effect throughout the main dining area. Additionally, the restrooms are disguised as a fully detailed gas station.

The restaurant also houses a two-story private screening and conference room area along with a classic mezzanine overlook, which seats up to 90 people and offers an exclusive bar from a hidden speakeasy room.

The new Mellow includes 100 micro-brewed beers from the full-service bar and a board room, equipped with conference table seating for up to 12 people for private presentations.
