SpenDifference, a supply chain co-op, has launched its latest menu price survey open to chain restaurants. The 12-question survey is designed for chains that operate at least 10 units in the U.S.
SpenDifference will make a $10 donation to the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for every survey completed, with a limit of one donation per chain. The survey will be open until May 8.
This edition of the survey explores chains' pricing and commodity management strategies, as well as menu research and development plans. The results will be released at the NRA Show, May 18-21 in Chicago. All answers are kept confidential. Respondents are given the opportunity to receive a complimentary copy of the findings.
"Few challenges are as daunting as menu price management, especially in light of today's volatile commodities markets, the U.S. economy's slow recovery, and the incredible level of competition operators face," said Brad Moore, SpenDifference senior vice president. "Our initial study, conducted in late 2012, found chains very hesitant to raise prices. It will be interesting to see if that trend is continuing."
