Modern Apizza owner brings new concept to Sacramento

The Sacramento (Calif.) Convention Center, in conjunction with hospitality partner Classique Catering, a Centerplate company, has opened a new concept called Apizza. Classique Catering has tapped nationally-recognized pizza master Bill Pustari to create thin-crust pies featuring farm-to-fork ingredients. According to a news release, Pustari is a veteran of the famous New Haven, Conn., pizza scene, owner of award-winning Modern Apizza, and TV personality.

"There's simply no substitute for real food, live events, personal interaction, learning and fun, which is why we work so hard to treat guests of the Sacramento Convention Center to an experience that makes it 'better to be there.' Partnering with legendary restaurateurs like Bill Pustari is part of crafting these memories and unforgettable experiences," Vickie Householder, general manager of Classique Catering, said in the release.

Apizza’s menu includes hand-made pies with traditional cheese and tomato, local pepperoni, and a vegetarian seasonal version topped with local vegetables. The menu also offers a classic Caesar salad and a selection of Panini sandwiches.

The concept will be open to the public for lunch, as well as for convention delegates, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 13th Street entrance between J and K streets.
