Nick’s Apizza taps new AOR in front of opening

Nick’s Apizza (pronounced a-beets), founded by Nick Laudano and Anthony Giovanniello, has tapped The Gab Group as its agency of record as the New Haven-style brick oven pizzeria/bar readies to open in Boca Raton, Fla.

Opening day is set for May 2011 at Glades Plaza in Boca Raton. Nick's Apizza plans to combine the time-honored apizza of New Haven, Conn., with the swank of New York City, and will serve 18-inch pies, specially crafted in a hand-built brick oven.

"Biting into one of Nick's pies will bring you back to what pizza is all about. It's the bite that will connect generations. Nick's Apizza will definitely become South Florida's new pizza addiction," said Michelle Soudry, public relations director at The Gab Group.

Added offerings include Hummel hot dogs, East Haven-based Foxon Park sodas crafted in 1922, Libby's New Haven Italian ice and homemade cheesecake.

This 4,600-square foot pizzeria will pay homage to the era of the 1920s to the 1950s, when this style of thin-crust apizza was born.

Designed in part by Karen Hanlon and Laudano, elements include a 1940s-inspired kitchen pantry, a floor pattern taken straight out of "The Godfather," and a ceiling wallpapered with authentic advertising from the 1920s and 1930s. A prominent focal point will be Laudano’s proprietary brick ovens, carefully hand-crafted by Laudano himself.

Nick's Apizza will seat 150 with indoor and outdoor dining, and features a to-go window and an indoor bar that flows to the patio.

Nick’s Apizza plans four more units throughout the South Florida area within the next four years.
