David Novak, CEO of Yum! Brands Inc., helped to prepare and serve meals to children at the El Hular Abajo community school in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, during a recent corporate relief trip. Yum! provides the school with new backpacks, desks and a blackboard.
Novak, the presidents from KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Yum! Restaurants International and other senior executives and franchise leaders, traveled to Nicaragua to see the United Nations World Food Programme’s relief efforts in the country. As the second poorest country in the Latin America and Caribbean region, Nicaragua is a recipient of funds raised through Yum! Brands' World Hunger Relief effort, which is launching this fall.
The company’s global hunger relief effort has raised nearly $60 million for WFP and other hunger relief organizations over the past three years and is helping to provide approximately 250 million meals for millions of people in remote corners of the world.
