Pagliacci Pizza launches sustainability program

SEATTLE — Twenty-one unit Pagliacci Pizza is launching a progressive sustainability program that reflects a strong commitment to the environment, Pagliacci employees and customers. According to a news release, the "Growing Greener" sustainability program encompasses multiple efficiency initiatives focusing on energy and utilities, packaging, cleaning supplies, vendor relationships and product ingredients.

Pagliacci currently uses green energy resources from local power grids, composts boxes and food waste, manages a thorough recycling program and seeks products that are local and sustainable. In addition to increasing conservation methods, such as working with vendors to consolidate deliveries, Pagliacci has also recently struck a deal to bring in Green Seal-certified cleaning supplies for all of its locations.

A new pizza box design will be released in the coming weeks in an effort to include customers in the program through educational facts and figures about sustainability as well as the actions of Pagliacci.

"Sustainability is a work in progress, and as other 'green' opportunities arise we want to take advantage of those that make sense for our business," said Matt Galvin, co-owner of Pagliacci. "Our employees play a big part in this program and we will continue to work together to expand our efforts."
