Panera Bread launches six varieties of pizza

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Panera Bread is rolling out six varieties of the Crispani, a handcrafted, made-to-order pizza with select all-natural toppings. With the goal of boosting dinner sales, the company said the Crispani will exclusively be sold in the evening.
Panera chief executive Ron Shaich said the special quality of the crust and toppings will make Crispani a great dinner experience for guests.
According to a news release, each Crispani is made from fresh dough and brushed with olive oil. The Crispani is then baked in Panera's stone deck ovens, creating a thin, crisp and flavorful pizza.
"Panera's foundation is in artisan bread, so it was a natural fit for us to create a pizza that is distinguished by its fresh-baked, handcrafted crust and enhanced by select, high-quality fresh toppings," said Dan Kish, director of product development for Panera Bread and former dean of the Culinary Institute of America.
The six varieties of Crispani currently available include:
  • Tomato & Fresh Basil
  • Pepperoni
  • Roasted Wild Mushroom
  • Sweet Sausage & Apple
  • Peppered Chicken & Rosemary
  • Three Cheese
