Papa Bello acquires Mama's Direct, names new CEO

Jan. 5, 2012

Papa Bello Enterprises, parent company of Kebab Café, Papa Bello Pizza, Royal Indian Express and Pastore's Italian Bistro, has acquired majority control of Mama's Direct.

Mama's Direct is an early stage organization using a hybrid business model that blends direct sales, brick-and-mortar retailing, franchising and multi-level marketing (MLM) business models to sell high-quality food and food-related products. Mama's Direct was founded by a partnership of industry experts and is registered as a Nevada corporation.

Mama's Direct sells a complete line of nutritious "Meals to Go" pre-prepared and pre-proportioned in a broad range of food groups, and food-related products designed to meet a variety of tastes. Mama's Direct has contractual agreements in place with Pueblo Italian Market of Pueblo, Colo., to manufacturer and fulfill a complete line of private label products using its patented cooking process that utilizes the patented Pasti Perfetto Water Oven.

Mama's Direct buys directly from the growers and packers. Another feature of this relationship of value is the willingness of the manufacturer to allow Mama's Direct to place orders as small as $100. This will assist in efficient inventory management. Products that will be part of the initial product line include beef, chicken, pork, lamb, poultry and fish products and a number of side dishes, vegetables and desserts.

In addition to the acquisition of Mama's Direct, PBE has appointed Jim Wheeler as CEO and has accepted the resignation of James Price. The company will also move its headquarters from San Diego to Corona, Calif.

"Mama's Direct has tremendous potential for growth, given the instant gratification that our society now demands. Mama's will provide nutritious, high-quality and easy-to-prepare foods at a very reasonable cost. We look forward to developing the brand and its distribution network," Wheeler said.
