LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's and movie rental giant Blockbuster Online have partnered to offer movie-and-pizza combo deals through their Web sites.

According to a news release, for a limited time, customers ordering through papajohns.com will receive a promotional code for a free 30-day trial of Blockbuster Online. The deal allows customers to rent DVDs online and receive them via standard mail.

"We're offering consumers the ability to order both food and entertainment without ever leaving the comfort of their home," said Nigel Travis, Papa John's president and chief executive. "Customers expect that convenience today — Papa John's and Blockbuster are both pleased to deliver on that expectation."

Before joining Papa John's in April, Travis served as Blockbuster's president and chief operating officer. He left that post in October of 2004.

Papa John's is the only national pizza chain with online ordering available from all units. Recently it added two new features to its system: one allowing customers to get the last order they placed with a single keystroke; and another for plan-ahead ordering so customers can order days or weeks in advance of the date they need their food.
