LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Papa John's International, Inc. announced the departure of Chief Operating Officer and PJ Food Service President Robert Wadell, who had worked with the company 13 years.
According to a news release, Wadell said that after 25 years in foodservice, he is "ready to consider new directions."
Bill Van Epps, current managing director of Papa John's international division will add Wadell's COO responsibilities to his plate, including oversight of all domestic unit operations.
The change-up was described in the release as a better alignment of "corporate and franchise operations and marketing into a single system."
Prior to joining Papa John's in 2001, Van Epps served two years as president of Yorkshire Global Restaurants' international division. He spent six years as an executive with AFC Enterprises and five years with PepsiCo Food Service International, where he was responsible for Pizza Hut corporate and franchise operations in the Australian/Asian region.
Papa John's also promoted David Flanery to chief financial officer. He will oversee finance, investor relations and strategic supply chain management. Flanery has served as PJ's senior vice president of finance since 2002.
Additionally, the company promoted Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Julie Larner to president of PJ Food Service, Inc., its wholly owned distribution and dough production operation. In her new role, Larner also will oversee Papa John's information systems and support services.
